Set in Stone

Anna Heinrich & Leon Palmer have worked together as a partnership since 1991 creating multi-media installations and interventions in response to a wide range of sites, often within the public realm across the UK and abroad.
They have been awarded numerous commissions and residencies, and have collaborated widely with programmers, engineers, fabricators and architects. Their work is often site specific and uses diverse technologies from low-tech natural light projection to 3-D laser scanning. Recent work includes Raison d'être, a perpetual stream running through an internally reflecting landscape at Mottisfont, Hampshire, England; The Reveal, an immersive camera obscura overlooking the Thames Estuary, Essex, England; Strange Attractor which explores the ordered and chaotic movement of a pendulum through a light field influenced by magnets and Travelling Light, a large scale 3-D point cloud video projection at the National Railway Museum, York, for Illuminating York. They continue to develop new ideas and ways of combining data and light projection and the phenomena of interactivity and responsive environments.
For the m2 Gallery, Anna and Leon have set up an installation that fuses together a book with stone using lighting and mirrors to create an impossible object. The object Set in Stone is deliberately ambiguous and open to interpretation and will be viewable through a peephole in the centre of the m2 Gallery window.
